This piece focuses on Lord Shiva, whose cosmic dance symbolizes the constant flux of atomic energy and matter within the universe. The dancer then channels and internalizes this energy to portray the nine human emotions, as described by the Sanskrit texts.
Rasavastha: Evoking Transcendence Through Dance
Directed and edited by Prnay Chopra, Rasavastha is a brief introduction to Indian classical dance, a set of culturally rich and highly sophisticated art forms. This film explores the aesthetic and philosophy behind two specific forms, Kuchipudi and Odissi, while featuring teachers and performers from Triveni School of Dance, giving you a very small glimpse into an ancient tradition that has existed since 400 BC.
